"Botanische Orchideeen" started growing
orchids for commercial purposes in 1979.
The first years we mainly imported plants
from tropical regions. For the last ten years
however, we grow our plants from seeds
to the flowering stage. |

A lot of our plants grow on cork slabs.
This way the plants grow in their
natural manner.
Also we grow on slabs of Epi-Web an
at the same time, it makes it easy to
export the plants.
The plants don't have to be unpotted
and the roots don't suffer. This is clearly
and advantage over shipping plants
with bare roots.
|
Besides growing young plants, we also
let some plants grow to exhibition size.
Being a small nursery, and therefore due
to space limitations, we can only do this to
a few plants.

Privately, we have a collection of
draculas, of which some are for sale.
For some types you might have to wait
though until we put those up for sale.
We also have a group of pleurothallioide.
To learn more about these plants we
have made several trips to South
America; this gave us a good feel for how
these plants like to grow.
Dr. C. A. Luer has described a dracula,
a masdavallia and a lepanthes in honour
of us.
